Dr. Kim is an experienced board-certified psychiatrist who provides compassionate and personal care through counseling and medication management.  Dr. Kim received his B.A., with Honors, in the History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine at the University of Chicago.  Dr. Kim received his M.D. from the University of Illinois, and he completed his residency training in Psychiatry at the Loyola University Medical Center, where he was the Chief Resident.  He is currently on the faculty of the Institute for Psychological Sciences.

 

At his private practice, Dr. Kim begins with a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment.  He works with his patients to help them gain greater insight into their life problems and be motivated to change.  Areas addressed by Dr. Kim include life meaning and purpose, spirituality and faith, improvement of social, marital and family relationships, career satisfaction, and the improvement of coping skills and self-esteem.  Dr. Kim uses a variety of psychotherapy methods to provide his patients with the tools to make changes in their lives.  Dr. Kim will integrate Chritsian faith-based counseling into treatment if requested by his patients.

 

Dr. Kim has worked with a diverse group of patients, and has extensive experience and expertise treating a variety of psychiatric conditions, including bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and panic disorder.

 

Dr. Kim also has extensive knowledge of referrals in the community that can address any specific needs that his patients may have.  Dr. Kim's goal is to provide his patients with a comprehensive treatment plan that recognizes that they are unique individuals who deserve personalized treatment in the context of a caring and healing relationship.
