Initial Psychiatric Consultation (60-80 minutes)

 

  • Meet and learn about your needs and goals for treatment.

  • Establish rapport and decide whether our practice can meet your needs.

  • Obtain a comprehensive psychiatric and medical history, including your past and present day problems and symptoms, previous treatment history, family history, developmental, personal and social history.

  • Understand areas of meaning in your life, including marriage, family, relationships, hobbies, career, goals and aspirations.  Learn about your religious and spiritual beliefs, or philosophical worldview, and incorporate them into your treatment if requested.

  • Discuss with you a diagnostic impression and formulation, and review with you different treatment options.

  • Collaboratively develop a comprehensive and personalized treatment plan which may include psychotherapy, medications, laboratory testing, and referrals.

 

50 Minutes - Psychotherapy with or without Medication Management

 

  • Typically once per week psychotherapy but frequency may vary depending on your clinical needs.

  • Agree upon goals for treatment.

  • In the context of a therapeutic relationship, we work together to support you in dealing with problems in your life, gain greater insight into your past and present problems, and motivate you to make changes in your life.

  • Use a variety of psychotherapy methods, including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, and positive psychology. 

  • Incorporate Christian faith and any spiritual concerns into your treatment if requested.

  • Medications used in treatment if indicated.

  • Evaluate response to medications, side effects, related medical problems, determine if further testing is needed, and make referrals as indicated.

 

25 Minutes - Psychotherapy with Medication Management

 

  • Frequency of appointments will vary depending on your clinical needs.

  • Evaluate response to medications, side effects, related medical problems, and determine if further testing is needed.

  • Make referrals as indicated, and collaborate with therapists.

  • Areas of expertise include bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, (generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety) and depression.

  • Focused psychotherapy.

  • Incorporate Christian faith and any spiritual concerns into your treatment if requested.
